KRIS ALLEN INTERVIEWED BY JAY LENO
Kris Allen was really shy and humble throughout the American Idol competition, this interview is really no different. He is such a regular dude and I enjoyed learning more about his life. Very glad he won the show!

KRIS ALLEN WINS AMERICAN IDOL - OUR HOUSE GOES WILD!

As stated in previous posts, Kris Allen has been my American Idol the whole season.
WHY...
Kris Allen embodied what American Idol is all about. They take contestants out of obscurity, have them showcase their musical/vocal talent and give them a chance at stardom. Adam Lambert is very talented but he has already had his break, performing in the very popular musical Wicked. Kris is a college kid from Conway, Arkansas - which makes his win a better story!
They both are talented and will have great careers. Allen took his great skills and progressed week after week into an amazing talented artist - which made me want to support him more than other contestants (his cute looks had something to do with it too). I'm also the type of guy who pulls for the underdog in every competition and since all of the judges basically handed the win to Lambert weeks ago, it was great to see Allen win!
AND...
I have bought three of Allen's songs on iTunes and zero of Lambert's songs. He's just my taste in a performer. He is very deserving of the win and his humble yet confident attitude throughout the show played a major factor in his winning!
RESULT...
John and I were literally jumping up and down screaming when he won. When they handed him the trophy the show was interrupted for an Amber Alert- which translated into us turning into mean American Idol fans - I even cursed at the TV. We saw only the second half of his winning song - which is annoying, but provided us a very memorable end to an AMAZING competition. WAY TO GO KRIS!!!

AMERICAN IDOL: WE ARE HOPING KRIS ALLEN WINS

From the beginning of this season of American Idol John and I have loved Kris Allen and hoped he would win it all! We've bought his music on iTunes, voted for him each week and recruited friends and family to vote for him. We like his unique vocal style, his CHILL personality and most of all his smile makes us melt - he's seriously adorable.
Adam Lambert is very talented and has that power old school rock voice - comparable to Freddie Mercury. The only thing wrong is that he has been performing in Wicked for over a year and already has a performance background. I just don't think his story is as powerful as Kris since he has been in the "business" already.
American Idol is meant to pluck someone out of obscurity and give them a platform to show their talent. This show offers an opportunity to become a mega star and that can be totally thrilling to watch - if the right person wins. There has been some lame winners/competitors in recent years - Jordan Sparks and David Cook - blah blah blah. At least this year these two guys are VERY talented!
No matter what happens tonight - Kris Allen is our American Idol and we can't wait to buy his first album!

THE GAYEST THING I'VE DONE IN A LONG TIME

I'm a mild homosexual man. What does that mean? I don't believe I possess extreme homosexual qualities. In fact, when coming out and dealing with being a young gay man I never really related to the majority of the gay community. I always felt like my "gay card" was declined upon entry wherever I went because I simply didn't fit in with the typical gays.
I don't love Madonna, drink vodka drinks (otherwise known as "skinny bitches" = vodka and soda water lowers calorie intake), sing along to show tunes at bars and don't have a Gucci loafer collection. I also don't fit into the "bear" community, the gay athletic community and most other parts of what people categorize themselves into in the gay world.
Let me be clear, I am not hating on guys who are into these things, I am just attempting to explain how I'm not the typical gay man. I actually love the diversity of our community and without them, I think this planet would be really boring!
That being said, I believe I did something that I consider to be the gayest thing I have done in a long time. I heard on the radio that there was a facebook page established where you can become a fan of American Idol's Kris Allen.
After watching American Idol last week and seeing super-duper cute Kris perform, I decided I needed to be a fan! Even though it's early in the show, John and I enjoyed his performance last week and look forward to seeing him compete in upcoming weeks.
Many of my artsy/musically inclined friends really dislike American Idol because they think it's cheesy or dislike all of the Hollywood drama attached to it. And loving American Idol is a typical "gay" thing to love so I am able to relate to my community through my love of the show.
What I enjoy most about American Idol and other reality shows that feature talent competitions, isn't the drama with the judges - I enjoy young talented people who maybe waiting tables at a restaurant or attending high school like a normal teenager and now have a national platform to show off their amazing vocal talent. What an awesome opportunity for any young artist!
I hope Kris goes far in the competition so John and I can enjoy seeing his adorable performances for more weeks to come. AND - I am darn proud to exclaim my truly "gay" admiration for him!
