BARB AND I HAD A GREAT WEEKEND IN SAN FRANCISCO!

Barb had never been to San Francisco and was able to come out and visit me this weekend - right before we move out of town! She arrived on Thursday afternoon and I just got back from taking her to the airport for her 8 a.m. flight back to Chicago. We had a very memorable weekend in "everyone's favorite city."

A few of the highlights/unique things that happened include:

AN ADVENTURE AT THE BEAT MUSEUM: We walked into the Beat Museum and were welcomed into a lecture by a photographer who collaborated with William S. Burroughs - a very famous Beat generation writer. We didn't know anything about the subject matter going into this but after the presentation, I felt like I had a great appreciation for the collaborative process this photographer had with this writer. I bought one of his books - the photographer's name is Charles Gatewood. He autographed it and was very happy to do so - super nice friendly guy. He told Barb if she needed a place to stay on her next visit to SF to give him a call and she could stay with him - he then handed his business to her. Too funny, old perverts are the best!

THIS BOOK STORE ROCKS: We stopped into the City Lights Book Store on Thursday evening before dinner and bought three awesome books for my God daughter Sarah. This book store is a historic landmark every book lover should visit, as so many great writers have used this book store to gain notoriety - such a rich history you hope some of the greatness rubs off on you. This charming book shop looks like it has never changed - another reason why I loved it!

WE ATE VERY WELL: favorite Italian restaurant - Poesia, best breakfast/brunch in town - Stacks, greatest bar food - Pete's Tavern, most convenient...the restaurant in my building that delivers to our door - Paragon and the restaurant with the best view of the Bay Bridge - Epic Roasthouse.

WEIRD PARKING DUDE: The parking garage attendant in Chinatown had this really weird system for getting your car back. He ended up explaining it to me five times before I understood him. Basically for $8 we could park there till 10 p.m.  but he wanted me to take a key to get into the garage...I would then return the key into a locked key box. I learned quick that Chinatown garage attendants don't work late and give you keys to the garage to avoid waiting for you to return. The whole situation was so weird.

IT ALL ENDED WITH....a bottle of Dom Perignon, caviar and chocolates from my super amazing man John who sent us this awesome gift basket with so many great things. Barb placed everything out on party platters and we took them up to the pool area and sat by the heaters and fire pit and talked. It was a great way to end the weekend!

Now it's time to get the house ready to be packed for the move tomorrow...fun fun fun!
