What a way to start the new year! My favorite Chicago Cubs player is traded to the Indians for some minor league prospects. The Cubs needed to clear some room in the budget for "other needs" (like Milton Bradley) and decided DeRosa was the odd man out in the infield.
This is just plain horrible news for Cubs fans. We have seen him be VERY productive every season he has played for us and he is a gamer, plays hard every game. Why would they get rid of a player who has time and again shown proven results? They have a few unproductive players making a lot of money who should have been dealt instead of DeRosa.
I will still root for DeRosa and at least he will have his friend Kerry Wood to keep him company on his new team.
