Call it a toss up, say they both did well, say Obama did well with his economic plan, McCain has a firm grasp on foreign affairs...however you want to characterize it, Obama was amazing last night. He looked so presidential. He was calm, articulated his points clearly and concisely and made his opponent - you know "this one" over here, look like a crotchety old man.
If you watched it on CNN, you would have seen that all of the political analysts gave credit to Obama, even the GOP political commentators believe McCain didn't hit a home run in the type of debate he has thrived in for most of his career.
But there is one comment that was made by a liberal commentator that resonated with me. He said, I believe Obama is ahead in the polls and has a very good outlook ahead. BUT in many areas of this country are not ready for a black man to be president and RACE is indeed a large factor still with 28 days remaining before the election. He also stated that there was recent research done stating race could keep Obama 6 or so points behind on election night.
If this is the case, I would be so angry with the American people. I really believe as a people we are better than that. We should be voting for the candidate who will provide the best plan to fix the economy, health care, foreign relations, social security, etc. Race should not be a factor - and unfortunately it just maybe a reality.
