CHICAGO LOSES 2016 OLYMPIC BID

This is the best photo I've seen - the people's faces are PRICELESS - showing the shock by the news that Chicago was eliminated from the Olympics bid in the first round. ALSO, the red headed man in the front of the photo with his mouth wide open is a former co-worker of mine, Patrick Steffes. (photo source: chicagotribune.com)

Chicago's 2016 Olympic hopes and dreams - shattered by the decision this past Friday to have the Summer Olympics in Rio, resulting in South America's first Olympic games win.

The politics involved to get this event is SUPER crazy. There needs to be a better way of deciding who is awarded the honor of hosting these games, as I have been reading that the votes have less to do with offering up the best proposal, venues, transportation, etc. - AND more to do with the rights of media coverage and the country's history of dealings with the International Olympics Committee.

Regardless, it's over now and a big congrats to Rio! I hope everyone in Chicago doesn't play the sore loser card. We should be happy they have an opportunity to gain this amazing exposure - Rio is a beautiful city and the 2016 games will be awesome to watch with them as the host.

Personally, I like the pouty lipped Asian woman pictured on the right. That could have easily been me if I was in Chicago and if I cared at all about it. Haha.
