UPDATE FROM PHILADELPHIA

HOME
Today marks the first day we can officially call this apartment home. It was a very long process; our artwork is up, donations were made to Salvation Army and our apartment is box free. The great weather combined with all of our artwork on the walls makes me really happy. We live close to a great park, lots of unique shops and restaurants. ALSO, we just saw Jamie Fox on our walk to the grocery store - John said he heard on the radio he is here filming a movie. Love the apartment and the neighborhood.

COAST TO COAST COMPARISON
San Francisco is a totally different world compared to Philadelphia. Not a good or bad comparison, just very different. West coast mentality is different, a lot calmer and chill. People out here seem to be angry most of the time, and aren't afraid to tell you about it. It's something I have come to expect and the positive I take from this is - at least you know where you stand with people. I believe this will become an endearing quality and one that I will get used to quickly. One this John and I hate are the crazy drivers who cut you off and/or won't let you merge into their lane - there's aggressive angry drivers galore out here.

EMPLOYMENT
I need to figure out if I will be admitted/decide to go to graduate school in the fall before I take a full time position. However, I've found three volunteer opportunities that should keep me busy. I'm excited about all of these opportunities...one is at a photography center, working as a photo lab monitor - the hours I put in volunteering are exchanged for discounted photo classes; I'm volunteering for Equality Forum, assisting in their Civil Rights Rally in early May - San Francisco's Mayor Gavin Newsom is attending the event - which is very exciting; and I had a meeting for a position as a marketing manager for the South Philly Film Festival working in exchange for screen writing classes - will hear back this week on if I landed this one/what kind of deal they will offer me. Hope to be busy starting this week.

FAMILY
John, the girls and I went on a long walk along the Delaware River today and had a really great time. I am trying to get the girls out everyday for some long walks now that the weather is getting warmer. We all are happy this weekend, no complaints from anyone. John's brother is coming to stay with us for a month or so during the week...it will be like old times when John lived with him in Chicago. Good times!

Photos will be taken soon, come visit Philadelphia!
