I woke up at 5 a.m. and started to fill out the Saint Joe's University application for a Master's of Arts in Writing Studies. Wrote a personal statement, emailed mentors requesting recommendation letters, picked writing samples, scheduled transcripts to be sent directly to the school, typed out all of the answers to the questions in the application...I dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's - it's all ready to go.
This afternoon I spent four hours reviewing my clips from college - I had fun reflecting on who I was in college through my weekly columns, weekender stories and news stories I wrote on the Greek community. I wrote about the happenings in the land of corn - DeKalb, Illinois.
Going to the stereotypical Midwest college in a Podunk town that was known for growing corn and educating college kids. I also learned a lot about 50 cent drafts, cover bands, house parties, and realized hangovers are only one beer away from feeling better. Keystone Light kegs, girls in tight black stretch pants, dudes in dirty tore-up baseball caps and endless hours of tailgate fun before football games. College - Good Times!
