MTVMUSIC.COM, A NEW SITE JUST FOR VIDEOS

As reported in the Chicago Tribune:

What took so long? To the network’s credit, it’s a robust and fun site that utilizes today’s social tools. It’s easy to share your trip down memory lane, even if your cube neighbor may not appreciate the cultural touchstone that “Frankie Goes to Hollywood” has become.

You can e-mail videos to friends, post them to your blog or share the fun on a social site. You can search for videos by artist name or just browse. You can watch videos on a small screen and read comments or you can enlarge a video for full-screen viewing. Also, MTV released software tools so users and developers can create mash-ups and other programs based on the content.

Very exciting news for me! Music videos, which have fallen out of MTV's programming to make way for teen drama-filled reality shows like The Hills, have always been a great art form. I'm excited to watch them take on a new life on this new website...Rock on MTVmusic.com!

The video above is by Kanye West, a song called Homecoming. Chicago looks great in this black and white video. I especially enjoy Chris Martin in this collaboration. I really appreciated them showing Chicago in such a cool diverse perspective!
