On the way home from dinner last night, at 8 or 9 p.m., we had a surprise guest join us for our car ride home. We were casually driving down the street with the windows down, no music on, having a conversation. John points out that the Rocky Horror Picture Show was ending its run at the Roxie Theatre we were passing and then we hear, thanks for the ride man, awesome! We both look around to see where the voice was coming from. I then look out the passenger side mirror and saw this curly haired young teen boy on a skateboard hanging onto the side of our car rolling down 16th Street with us. We stop at the light and he rolls up to my window and said, "Thanks for the ride man! Will you pull me up the next big hill up there?"
John said, "No man, that isn't right, you shouldn't be doing that."
He responded, "Man I have been doing this for a long time! I will just get the next person to do it, why won't you?"
John replied, "No, sorry man."
He replied, "Mannnn you're LAME!"
Our light turned green and we moved along. John was heart broken that this kid called him lame. He even contemplated going back around the block and pulling up the hill. I told him we did the responsible thing, he could of gotten hurt and if he did, we both would have felt really bad. And like he said, someone else will pull him, and let them take responsibility in case he gets hurt.
Anyway, proud of how responsible John is, even tho he is considered lame by young teenaged boys!
