MCCAIN'S MIDDLE CLASS SUPPORTERS ARE CONFUSED

Barack Obama answers a question from plumber Joe Wurzelbacher in Holland, Ohio, Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008.

Throughout John McCain's speech tonight he used "Joe Plumber" as the example of a citizen in middle America. I think McCain's "Joe Plumber" supporters are confused. McCain and Palin keep saying they are fighting for "Joe Six-pack" and "Joe Plumber," but what are they actually doing for them?

"Joe, I want to tell you, I'll not only help you buy that business that you worked your whole life for and I'll keep your taxes low and I'll provide available and affordable health care for you and your employees," said McCain. "And I will not stand for a tax increase on small business income."

If you put both of these Presidential candidate's proposals on a table and really looked at them, middle America is clearly being supported by Obama's campaign best. McCain's campaign proposes less taxes for the rich, he still wants to send "Joe America's" kids to a very unpopular war in Iraq, his health care plan does nothing for the middle class, etc. Obama will have tax cuts for 95% of the country - those making less than $250,000.

This is the biggest farce I have seen in a long time - well since Bush was elected for 8 years - IRG. Is middle America that uneducated?

As reported by the Associated Press:

Obama said that under his proposal taxes on any revenue from $250,000 on down would stay the same, but that amounts above that level would be subject to a 39 percent tax, instead of the current 36 percent rate.

"And the reason why we're doing that is because 95 percent of small businesses make less than 250 (thousand). So what I want to do is give them a tax cut. I want to give all these folks who are bus drivers, teachers, auto workers who make less, I want to give them a tax cut," he said.

I believe it may come down to one question. Is middle America ready for a black President? Don't you think if Obama was white he would be blowing away McCain in the polls at this point? I know Obama is leading, justly so, but the lead should be much larger. This is what scares me.

VOTE FOR CHANGE - VOTE FOR OBAMA!

Maybe I'm naive, but I think it's a partisan politics issue, not a black issue. I think Karl Rove smear politics have got people thinking that a vote for the wrong side means we're all dead.

In my opinion, what it boils down to is people are all whipped up and afraid. Mostly, the floor is falling out from under a bunch of rich dudes and they don't want to lose their money. They will say anything to make people who are already frightened think Obama is a Socialist, out to take your money & control your life, while he has tea with genocidal dictators. I think if he were white they would be saying the same crap. (much like bashing Palin isn't because she's a woman - it's because she's an idiot.) Look what they said about Kerry & how they turned his veteran status against him! And he was as white as wonderbread.

And no offense, but I don't give a rats ass about "Joe the Plumber" if this tax plan helps 95% of Americans. Someone is ALWAYS going to be a little disenfranchised - better someone who can pay for it than the masses who can't.

And might I add - this guy isn't even in that tax bracket right now! So the idiot is fighting his own tax cut for a future company he may never own. Smart move, Joe!

I agree with everything you have to say. The smear campaign that Rove is now working for McCain like he did for Bush is effective with this type of uneducated voter.

I still feel like race is going to play a part in the middle America vote - just have to wait to see how much of a part it will be.

Joe Plumber has no license to be a plumber and owes big bucks in back taxes - another town idiot.

Thanks for commenting on my blog - you are the coolest person from high school I have seen in person in over 12 years...hope to see you when I am in Chicago next!
